India Society Of Worcester holds it’s first Khana Apna Khazana Event

FTV Community News, Worcester:  India Society of Worcester, ISW,  held its first Khana Apna Khazana event on May 5th at India Center in Shrewsbury.  The event was a Desi Master Chef Challenge Contest for passionate Chefs. 70+ attendees, enjoyed this brand new event organized by ISW by tasting and admiring variety of delicacies in one place.

“We have tried this event for the first time and we are really excited to see the enthusiasm of all participants,” said Sarita Deshpande, the cultural secretary of ISW. “This time we saw a lot of new faces in the audience. Accordingly to registration numbers , there were about 60% newcomers for this event at ISW. That really encourages our team to continue to experiment with new events and ideas. We are thrilled with the response for this event.”

The event opened up with a short demonstration by Anuradha Bhogle, a creative artist showed how beautifully one can make flowers, butterflies, ladybugs and many more creations out of fruits and vegetables.
The contest then began with, the judges visiting each contestant’s food table and tasting their food, asking them questions, complimenting the food and evaluating the entries. Participants included Anand Rathi and Pooja Sarda, Komal Rathi and Arti Sah, Deepika Goyal and Nirad Sarang, Vijanti Joshi, Nisha Bawa and Verinder Bawa, Deepali Jain and Sachin, Manaharan Ganapathy and Chithra Manharan, Priya Vaidya and Usha Yadav, Kiran Nagar. Each and every dish was elaborately prepared and presented. All contestants were given a chance to showcase their recipes and describe the process of making their entry. The Judges asked questions and tasted all samples. The entries were judged based on pre-defined criteria and scoring system defined by the ISW team.
Enthusiastic tasting attendees took pleasure in tasting the food samples with their friends and families.
On the parallel track, the kids and their parents relished the event also by participating in games. Cultural team at ISW organized games related to food such as – guess the baby food, sniff and tell the spice,etc.
The event was sponsored by Paradise Biryani Pointe and Aunty G’s who gave away gift prizes to the winners.
